Every tier the same means no tier means anything
Many service programs give a variation of the same object at five, ten, fifteen and twenty years. By the third one it is a formality, and the twenty-five year award carries no more weight than the five. A program where the material genuinely changes at the top is doing recognition; one where it does not is doing admin.
Consistency is also what makes the program credible internally. If the twenty-five year award changed twice in the last decade, nobody knows what reaching it means, and an employee approaching the milestone has nothing specific to look forward to. The recognition value is in the recognizability.
How a tiered program works
- Lower tiers in a modest material — that is entirely appropriate.
- Silver reserved for one or two senior milestones.
- A visible step up, so people know what is coming.
- Consistency year to year, so it is a program rather than a whim.
- Predictable quantities, so budget can be planned.
Setting the threshold
Pick the milestone where the material genuinely changes and hold it. Lower tiers in something modest is entirely appropriate and it is what makes the senior tier mean anything.
Spreading silver across every tier costs considerably more and removes the step that made it work. A program where every award feels the same is administration rather than recognition.
How we handle it
- 01Help you set the threshold where silver starts.
- 02Design a piece that stays consistent across years.
- 03Hold the design so next year's award matches this year's.
- 04Quote annually against your forecast headcount.
- 05Ship to one address or to home addresses.
Hold the design. A service award that changes appearance every two years stops being a milestone people recognize across the company. The value comes from everybody knowing exactly what the twenty-five year piece looks like.
Said plainly
Where we stop
If you have three hundred people reaching a milestone annually, silver at any tier will not work. We will say so at the first email rather than quoting something you cannot fund.
FAQ

- Yes, and you should. Consistency is what makes a service award recognizable.

- It depends on budget per piece. Send your annual forecast and we will be straight about it.
